Stonehenge tours operated by Mad Max Tours
Time at the stones matters more than total tour length, because the rest of the day is spent driving or at other stops. We list it separately for that reason.
| Tour | Duration | Time at the stones |
|---|---|---|
| Cotswolds and Stonehenge | Full day | About 2 hours at Stonehenge, plus about 60 minutes at Avebury |
| Inner Circles of Stonehenge Special Access | Full day, selected dates from May to September | Inside the circle after the monument closes to the public |
| Winter Stonehenge and Lacock | Shorter day, roughly November to February | Not published as a fixed figure |

Mad Max Tours is a good fit if

- + Small-group travel with a local guide
- + Film-location fans, the route covers Harry Potter and Downton Abbey sites
Trade-offs to weigh up
- − Departs from Bath, so it is no use if you are staying in London
- − Stonehenge admission is not included in the tour price, so budget for it separately
- − The special access tour only runs on selected dates, May to September
- − Third-party listings quote the cap as 14, 15 or 16. Their own FAQ states the minibuses have a maximum capacity of 16 guests, so plan around 16
Our take
The strongest small-group option if your trip includes Bath. Stonehenge gets about two hours and Avebury follows, which is more of the prehistoric landscape than most operators manage in one day. Remember that your Stonehenge admission is not in the price.
We have not linked to Mad Max Tours's own website. We were not able to reach them to confirm the details below directly, so we are not sending traffic to their site until we can. Where their tours are sold through a booking platform, we link there instead, further up this page.
We are not affiliated with Mad Max Tours and we receive no payment from them. Details verified 2026-10-14 from their published information. Prices change with the date and season, so check the current figure with the operator before you book.
Ratings and reviews
Score as published by the operator's own website, checked 2026-10-14. We did not collect these reviews and we do not mark them up as review schema, because search engines prohibit marking up ratings gathered from other sites.
How our ratings will work once reviews build up
Star averages tell you very little on their own. A 4.9 from 2,700 reviews and a 4.4 from 232 are not the same claim, and neither tells you whether the guide was good or the pickup was late. So we collect reviews scored on the things that actually differ between operators, and publish those sub-scores alongside the average.
- •Value for money
- •Quality of the guide
- •Communication and pickup
- •Time at the stones
- •Booking and cancellation
Reader reviews are opening shortly
We are collecting reviews from travellers who have actually taken these tours, scored on the things that differ between operators: guide quality, communication and pickup, time at the stones, and value for money. We would rather open this properly than put up a box that loses what you write.
In the meantime, the comparison below covers group sizes, itineraries and time at the stones for every operator we track.
We do not pay for reviews and operators have no say in what gets published, including this page. Reviews are checked by a human and confirmed with the author by email before they appear.
Check the hours for your date first
Opening hours and last entry vary by date, and tour departure times are built around them. Check your date before you commit to an itinerary.
