Best Stonehenge Tour Operators 2026

Ten companies compared on the things that actually change your day: group size, time spent at the stones, where they depart from, and what each one is worse at than the others.

How this comparison works

  • Every operator is listed with its trade-offs. A roundup where everything is excellent is not useful, and you should distrust one.
  • We do not publish fixed prices. Tour prices move with the date, the season and the optional add-ons, so we describe price positioning and send you to the operator for the live figure.
  • We are not affiliated with any operator listed here. Outbound links are editorial and carry no payment. Some booking links elsewhere on this site are GetYourGuide affiliate links, which is how the site is funded.
  • Facts verified 14 October 2026 against each operator's own published information, cross-checked against independent tour comparisons.
  • We audited what the prices actually include. Most big-coach headline prices exclude entry to Stonehenge itself. Read the price audit.

Choosing a Stonehenge operator

The questions that actually decide which tour to book.

Which company runs the best Stonehenge tour from London?

There is no single winner, because the right operator depends on what you want from the day. Golden Tours is usually the cheapest. Evan Evans has the widest range of itineraries and the most routes with inner circle access. International Friends and The English Bus cap groups at 16 if crowds are your main concern. Premium Tours has the most unusual itineraries, including a countryside pub lunch at a 14th-century inn. If you only want the stones with the least driving, an Evan Evans half day gives you the most time at the monument of the Stonehenge-only coach tours.

Do any Stonehenge tours include inner circle access?

Yes. Evan Evans, Golden Tours and Premium Tours all operate Stonehenge Inner Circle or Special Access tours, where you walk inside the stone circle outside normal opening hours. These are separate, more expensive products from the standard admission tours, run on selected dates only, and usually require booking well in advance or carry longer cancellation windows. The English Heritage Stone Circle Experience is the direct equivalent if you are booking without a London departure.

Is it cheaper to visit Stonehenge independently than on a tour?

Often yes, if you are comfortable with trains. Adult admission starts from about £27.20 booked online in advance. Travelling independently means a train from London Waterloo to Salisbury, roughly 90 minutes, then the Stonehenge Tour bus from Salisbury station, which runs as an all-in-one ticket covering the bus, Stonehenge admission and Salisbury Cathedral. That usually undercuts a London coach tour, but you give up the guide, the door-to-door convenience and the fixed timetable works against you in winter when there are fewer buses.

How much time do you actually get at the stones on a coach tour?

It varies more than the headline duration suggests. Stonehenge-only half days usually give you around 2 hours at the monument. Three-stop days that add Windsor, Bath or Oxford typically allow 1 to 1.5 hours at Stonehenge, because the same day has to stretch across three sites. If the stones are the main reason for your trip, choose a Stonehenge-only tour or a two-stop tour rather than a three-stop one.

Are the prices on this page current?

We deliberately do not publish fixed tour prices for each operator, because they change with the date, the season and the optional admission add-ons, and static figures on comparison sites go stale quickly. Instead we describe how each operator is positioned on price and link you to their own booking page, where the live price for your date is shown. Opening hours and admission prices for the monument itself are verified against English Heritage and stamped with the date we checked them.
